Hans Christian Andersen's house where he wrote about the little pilot then thought mermaid was better

8th Sep Made it from Wick to Roskilde in less than 3 hours
great tailwinds - doing 220 knots GS at one stage. Mike the ferry pilot had been checking on flights home on the internet the night before and found there was a connecting flight out about 8pm - anyway the planned arrival 18:30 local might not have done it. As it was we landed before 18:00 and he was in a taxi heading for Kastrup by about 18:15 - I gather he made it back to the USA the following day.
I chose to take a lay day and said to Frederick (EFT) we could do the paperwork on Monday - for info he was quite happy to meet up at anytime and get me on my way - A word of praise here - I can certainly recommend EFT - dealt with everythign at Roskilde - organised hotel coverred all the handling and a tank of fuel - what more could you ask - Just nice to be hassle free after all the running around and nagging I seem to have had to do.

Sunday went in to Copenhagen and did the tourist thing -   SEE LEFT Little Mermaid and many grumpy japanese tourists and below HC Andersen's house - white one

@@@ will finish this later
Monday dawned wet and very windy - met up with Frederick at the hotel - went through the paperwork then went to the airport - all very quick and easy. EFT took care of everything including landing fees and hotel. I went to ask, as I had discovered there was an Avidyne agent at Roskilde, about an updated European base map - unfortunately it seemed like a big issue and would take days to arrive -

so I bought a few maps from the club flying shop and retired early to plan my last leg solo VFR to EGHH

Tuesday initially seemed little better than Monday although the cloudbase was up to about 1700. Got away just after 11:00 - a four hour trip this one with about 600nm. Initially lots of cloud but clear from about 5000ft - on the basis of being able to see the sea from time to time I got a climb to 55 out of Roskilde's airpsace and the trip was wonderful until Holland and everything was clagged in again. I had to come down as  I was VFR , to get round Amsterdam class A - around Rotterdam the cloudbase was down to 1600ft and I was expecting trouble. Ostende cleared me along the coast and things looked up as I crossed the Channel I could get up to about 4500 - not much higher as approaching Worthing A airspace- anyway glorious views of the white cliffs but bumpy as hell . In the end landed at EGHH at 14:00 flight time of about 3.45 - the missus and a firend were the reception party - and my licence to bore them for a few beers after.
